The mall, like all malls in the great suburbia of metropolitan consumerism, was big, flashy, and, most importantly, saturated with customers. Shoppers who were full of money though none too proud to exchange it for items that could well have been bought elsewhere but for some reason had to be here because it was the rules. Perhaps you need use different coloring style for dfferent situation: Black and white when there only evil guys, airbrush method when there only charmed guys, and base colors in other situation.

I feel that the airbrush adds a great pop in the textures, but this comic needs the vibrant colors of the bucket fill.

I think I prefer this method of coloring, although the other method does have advantages.

I slightly prefer the bucket fill approach but actually, both techniques are ok for me. You should use the technique you are most content with and which saves you the most time.
