Max and the Magic Lens Ch.9CHAPTER 9: Not So Easy

The scenery rolled by like an old movie reel as the Gardner’s car zoomed out of the city and through the country toward the county springs. Logan was jiving out, in low volumes, to the love songs on her CD player. She had really wanted to drive but this wasn’t such a bad alternative. Besides, it was a long haul.
Max, or Pan, was zoned out in the back seat, watching the never-ending acres of pine trees roll out of sight. Actually, she was vaguely studying her faint reflection and feeling a mix between excitement and shame because she hid a two-piece underneath a rather baggy shirt and a pair of shorts.

As I'm sure many are aware, two of those lines in Shelly's thought panel are direct quotes from KND Operation FUTURE.

So, yeah, I decided not to shade this one as shading takes time and I felt the lines already give it some depth. Yeah, I know I'm a lazy ass, but at least I'm . . . an . . . updating lazy ass? :confused:

Bah!

Anyway, the story continues and now people should know kind of how the spell is supposed to work. I was originally going to have a more thorough explanation and go into the inner workings of it, but I decided that's too Science fiction for a story about magic. Techno/Magi-Babble has no place in this story!

In fact, I'm not even sure I like Angel using the words "Body Chemistry", but the deed is done and since I'm a lazy ass (see above), the dialogue shall remain (sans any spelling errors).

why does she wear the baby stuff . this has confussed me alot . is it for further hulmiliation , or is the that young that she needs it becuase its age appropiate. how old is michelle. does mitchele wet the bed or something .

The pacifier is basically just for Angel to shut her up in a humiliating way. It's a call back to a previous comic. Michelle's age is around 4 to 5 (though my lack of artistic consistency in the line art may lead to confusion ^^; ). Michelle does not wet the bed. She's not wearing a diaper.

My apologies for any confusion. ^^;

i realy love the KND opperation future refferce. If you think about it Angel is maddem margret but only to some people.

It's easy to do with aspergeres. Hide even the vegust of referrences and 60-75% of the time i will find it.

Of course if it comes from somthing i have never seen before then it gose down to 0.

I love how Shelly's thinking over what just happened as she grabs the bonnet. I used to love KND but i haven't seen that episode in a long time so I don't recognize the reference. On another note does Shelly now that she's doing that?

I think it's funny that Angel's still making him/her dress like a baby for bed. The first thing I noticed was the KND reference as I was a big KND fan back in the day (and Operation Future was my third favorite episode). More or less, the Happy spell seems like the Imperious Curse from Harry Potter to me (given Mike/Michelle's reaction to coming out of the Happy spell, Angel's explanation of how it works and remembering way back to my 7th grade class when we were reading Goblet of Fire). Was that an inspiration?
