Past Life
It's been mentioned before [link] that Roxanne was a pretty good basketball player. I think I also explained to somebody that she sort of reveals herself to have a bit of an ego behind that shy exterior.

But she is pretty good at the sport.

Nowadays
Which brings me to my next point. A lot of people have been wondering, since she seems to be inherently good at cheerleading, needing little to no practice, does that mean she's lost the ability to play basketball?

Well the full answer to that is in this and the next chapter, but the penultimate panel here should give a hint:

(She's still quite capable of playing basketball . . . with the exception of dunking . . . . maybe).

Anyway, hope you enjoy :)

Though maybe having her memories rewritten at this point would be a mercy, cause then at least it would end her torture.

Also, Li Sung found Roxanne and pulled her into practice as if a good friend or assigned to look after the new girl. Part of the "cheerleader" component of the spell? Was the original, redhead Roxanne Li Sung's friend who has now been "overwritten" with the new Roxanne? Otherwise, it was the magic that assigned Li Sung to be Roxanne's mentor on the squad?

Cheerleaders have to be athletic. In the smaller schools, cheerleading has suffered some as most of the more athletic girls go into girls' sports -- as opposed to 30 - 40 years ago when girls' sports were small and not taken seriously, or didn't exist for girls. Cheerleaders WERE the most athletic girls. Anyway, Roxanne is probably as athletic as a girl commensurate to her athleticism as a boy. Maybe even more as her memories of being a superstar might be wishful thinking? Does Roxanne have a choice to join the girl's basketball team? The spell wasn't just about being a girl--but being a cheerleader?

I would think that some sort of "cascade effect" takes place for some of the changes? Eliminating people from the school instantly, while replacing them with "different" people. If I were to attempt to explain it "scientifically" I'd probably trot out M-theory, or string theory for the mechanism--supporting changes that "grease the wheels" being done by connectiveness? The "B-Ball Boy" became Roxanne because the real Roxanne had just joined the squad and her family was prone to moving anyway? Li Sung took a liking to her--doesn't notice that she isn't the same person as the first Roxanne? The paperwork, computer files have changed? Or do people just perceive the files as the spell wants them to? "B-Ball Boy" vanishes from the collective minds of the school--or they think he moved away? The new Roxanne takes the place of the old Roxanne?

The magic probably takes the path of least resistance MOST of the time. Likewise, the sheer complications and perhaps quantum uncertainty factors might leave big holes in the TF as well? Angel doesn't have to literally THINK of all the changes she needs to make--the wish-like nature of the change does most of them for her? Roxanne was also the first TF spell she crafted outside the house, it might have been the best as she still had all her power and hadn't started spelling everything in sight?

I wondered what "B-Ball Boy" did to warrant a change from Angel? I think that we can probably assume from Angel's actions that he was just a jock in the wrong place at the wrong time! If she wanted to punish him--she would have done much worse!

Or it could have been just story narrative that Li Sung came across Roxanne, saw the uniform and jumped to conclusion.

My grandmother (who is in the upper ninety years old) was on the hockey team and the basket ball team if she is to be believed and still has a scar from her time on it.

I think Angel was just ENJOYING herself, it doubt the people turned into trees or talking rats had even met her before!

The sad part is that we're left wondering what Rox's real name is and if she remembers it.

Until shown otherwise, I'll stick to the school of thought that Rox's TF was focused solely on her and the rest is just human nature and plot narrative since if she really written reality, Rox' would have no memory of that and she wouldn't have accidentally taken the place of someone who had to leave the state on a second's notice due to her dad being transferred.

The worst part is knowing that Rox' is an insignificant nothing. IF she found Angel, she'd be turned into a barbie doll, a panties, a piece of art, or have her memories of ever being male erased or made into a little girl in a cheerleader costume and THEN rewrite her mind like it was a movie script. Angel has idealized the female form, she likely considers people she's changed as a gift on some level. And those who don't appreciated her gifts deserve to be punished. Or whatever Angel thought of first that amused her to do to Rox'.
