Solo Tree

I'll probably use this as the background for the cover page.

I don't know what it is about trees that fascinate me or subliminally demand that I draw them, but I have noticed I've been depicting rather crudely.

So this was an attempt to make a scene differently, instead of pencilled sketches and ink. This was all done with the Paint and Dodge/Burn tool in Gimp, with the "Canvas" actually set to being a canvas. So in short, if it looks like a crude painting: It is.

In any case, I liked the colors and since there's going to be lots of shit in front of it as it is the background, hopefully my lack of painting talent won't be so disgustingly evident.

But a part of me does like it in some ways. It feels more organic and it's not the same old routine of pencil, ink, scan, color, airbrush.
